Zen Meditation

Zen (or Chan) Meditation

In many of our classes we will use meditation as a significant part of our training, not just in our weekly meditation class.

Our style of Zen meditation offers physical, mental, and spiritual benefits.

Physical benefits include improving your breathing, grant you greater energy, less prone to illnesses, lower your blood pressure, improved athleticism, improved posture, and increased efficiency in blood and energy flow.

Mental benefits help with stress management, increasing your mindfulness and awareness, achieve deeper relaxation, and improve your focus and concentration. Better anger management and a greater capability to perceive and change negative habits into positive ones.

Spiritual benefits can include a greater sense of oneness and connectivity, cultivation of compassion and loving kindness, increased tolerance and acceptance of people in situations, a deepening of one’s faith or religious practices, and the potential for true awakening or enlightenment depending on your personal views in life.

Who Meditates?

Anyone.

You don’t have to be religious to mediate. You also can be religious and mediate.

Many meditate for religious purposes, and forms of meditation are in all religions with either contemplative or meditative or prayer practices. Some sects include meditation as an integral part of their religious practice.

Therapists and medical professionals offer types of meditation as a way to improve physical or mental health. Children to senior patients can be taught meditation techniques and methods that are confirmed through clinical studies to have a positive impact on health.

Athletes regularly use visualization meditation techniques improving game performance, and many coaches and sports psychologists incorporate meditation into their training routines.

Business leaders and salespeople use meditation and visualization as preparation for important meetings or sales call and claim significant improvement as a result of their meditation.
